Nations have been shattered by warped realities that have superimposed themselves on your planet. No world power was unscathed. They were caught off guard, but they are far from giving up.
This is the world we've known and loved, almost. Here you will discover what is different about it in Torg. First, let's see how reality works on Earth in Torg.
Axioms
Magical Axiom: 7. Divination can work regularly, a relatively easily, but it's still often with unsatisfactory results. Conjuration magic is impossible. Apportation is possible, but weak. So is Alteration magic, but it takes a long time to cast and brings weak, erratic, short lived, and minor results.
Social Axiom: 21. The social allows for democratic governments in which various groups fight for political power. It also allows for the beginning of supranational organizations, such as the United Nations and multinational corporations. However, it does not allow for much long term cooperation between them, except for some semi-permanent alliances. This level, along with the Spiritual and Technological axioms allow for psionic abilities.
Spiritual Axiom: 9. There is a definite divine agency, defined by this axiom, but the spiritual power is not strong enough to solidify it. The divine form is dependent upon the worshipper. Divine intervention is possible, but not necessarily at the request of the faithful. Miracles are also possible, but few know the required steps to invoke them. However, since the Invasion, such things have become increasingly common. It is theorized that the war allowed the faithful to more easily focus to fight against the Raiders.
Technological Axiom: 23. The technological axiom allows for primitive lasers and microtechnology, as well as putting Earth on the edge of discovering nanotechnology, fusion power, virtual reality, and energy weapons. In fact, some of the Earth has actually raised to a Tech level of 24; and with technological miracles to be discovered in France and Japan, it is sure to change soon.
World Laws
Law of Prodigy: Some people on Core Earth are naturally talented in a specific area. Any possibility rated Core Earth character can purchase a prodigy package for three Possibilities. There is no reoccuring cost. This increases the character's tag skill by +3 before beginning the game (so the character would have a tag skill of +6). Ords can be prodigies too, but they either sacrifice 6 skill points in other areas, or they have severe mental or physical handicaps (such as blindness, or missing a limb, or autism, etc...).
Law of Hope: Core Earthers tend to be very tenacious. They hold on to their reality and their lives with great ferocity. The first aspect is that it is more difficult for Core Earthers to disconnect and transform to an alien reality. This only effects Ords and mass transformation of living or being invaded by, another reality. Also, Storm Knights from Core Earth can invoke the Law of Hope in an important way. If a group of Storm Knights contains one or more Core Earth knights, then once during a Dramatic Scene, they can seize initiative. This can only be done once, regardless of the number of Core Earthers in the group. It also causes a contradiction in other realities.
Law of Glory: There is a rumored third law, making the reclaimation of land easier, but it has yet to show itself.
